Stop Complaining and Do Your Job!

Stop Complaining and Do Your Job!

Why do I have all this debt?

Why can’t I lose the weight?

Why do I keep falling into this sin?

You’ve probably asked yourself or God one of these questions or something like them.

In reality, these are complaints. When we ask these questions - sometimes in tears - we’re really complaining about the challenges we’re forced to deal with.

Sometimes, we’ll look at the person next to us and wonder how much easier life would be if we could be free of our bad habits like them. Unbeknownst to us, they have their own trials and tribulations, too!

So, what’s the proper response when we’re grieving our trials? Well, first, we have to adjust our thinking on these problems we’re dealing with. Let’s look at our model, Jesus, and His assignment when He was in the Earth:

“…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

1 John 3:8 NKJV

The trial you're facing isn't something you need to be rescued from. If you're born again into the family of God, then you have the same assignment as Jesus: to destroy the works of the devil!

Every instance of lack, sickness, and sin is a work of the devil (John 10:10). We saw Jesus address everyone of these issues in His earthly ministry and He has commissioned us to continue His work (John 14:12).

Whatever you’re facing, you’re meant to overcome: first in your own life and then in the lives of those in your community.

How can we do this? Well, on our own, we can't. In John 15, Jesus explains that without Him, we can’t do anything (John 15:5). That means we need to spend less time trying to work overtime to solve our problems and more time studying the Word and communing with Jesus so He can reveal to us the solutions.

Jesus overcame the Enemy (Ephesians 4:8) and gained all authority over all things (Matthew 28:18). Through Grace we have access to that victory and authority, and that Grace is sufficient to overcome your trials (2 Corinthians 12:9).

In essence, what the Lord is saying to us is this: stop complaining and do your job! Your job isn't to put food on the table; your job is to preach the Gospel, make disciples, occupy until Jesus comes, and destroy the works of the devil!

The more time you spend abiding with Jesus and His Word, the more you will be empowered to do it. This is why Jesus spent so much time with the Father (Luke 5:16). Because he abided with the Father, at the moment when He was under the greatest pressure in the Garden of Gethsemane, He didn't crumble. He didn't complain. He took the "cup" that was given to Him and He WON (Luke 22:42)!

You can, too. Let's get it done!

This Was a Wonderful Day! Dear Overcomer, What a wonderful day! It was an honor to host my first ever book launch with the Coastal Virginia Christian Chamber last week! It was great to conduct one of my favorite trainings "A Tale of Two Systems," derived from chapter 1 of my book, "The Anointing of Rest." Speaking of which, it was a blessing to see the long line of Christian entrepreneurs lining up to get their copy. We sold 19 books that day! Praise God for the opportunity to share The...

I Wrote a Book Just for YOU! At the beginning of this year, I received an instruction from the Lord to write a book based on the things I teach in our Overcome the Pressure meetings. It's a summation of everything the Lord has taught me for over a decade regarding work and success! The name of the principle the Lord Jesus taught me - and the name of the book - is The Anointing of Rest! I want to tell you more about this book in person, so I'm holding a book launch event that will serve as my...
